Q Facts
Keeping you up to date with the latest news and trends in the soft magnetic technologies industry
In the ninth edition of Q-Facts you can find out how you can improve the accuracy of your SPICE simulations and discover how you can meet and hear from our team of technical experts at both PCIM Europe and Electric & Hybrid Marine World Expo 2018.
Opt in to continue receiving Q-Facts after the 25 May
From 25 May the new legislation, GDPR, is being introduced across Europe and our updated data protection policy will require you to opt in if you would like to continue receiving Q-Facts and our technical newsletters. If you do not opt in by this date, we will be required to unsubscribe you from our mailing list.

Improving the accuracy of SPICE simulations for powder cores by modeling inductor’s variable saturation
Improving the accuracy of SPICE simulations for powder cores by modeling inductor’s variable saturation
Many designers use an average inductance value for cores or inductive components which gives an acceptable degree of accuracy in circuit simulations; however, powder cores are different, and even the smallest change in current can affect the inductance, hence when there are large current fluctuations the average is no longer representative.
In this paper we explore how the change in inductance from applied current can be described mathematically and be considered in a circuit simulation to improve design accuracy.
